Grape - Frontenacâ„¢ - Sale Price: $49.95 The Frontenac Grape, Vitis 'Frontenac', is a hardy red wine grape developed by the University of MN that produces a very good quality juice for wine making. A vigorous grower with good disease resistance, it has proven hardy in -30° winter temperatures. The small, dark-blue berries are loosely spaced on medium to large clusters. The fruit holds well, and berry splitting and bunch rot are rare, even in wet years. The fruit matures in a short growing season, so it's a perfect variety for northern gardens. Frontenac has vigorous growth and good resistance to downy and powdery mildew. It is self pollinating. This grape tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, but must have good drainage. It needs a location sheltered from winter winds and well removed from frost pockets. Grapes are primarily grown for fruit production in home fruit gardens where they provide good ornamental value: bold summer foliage, showy fruit, some fall color and shaggy, twisted trunking and branching often best seen in winter. Grapes need a good support system like fences, walls, trellises, arbors or other structures. The grape vines can be quite attractive year-round and can provide good cover, screening, or shade to areas around the home. Grapes need full sunlight and high temperatures to ripen, so plant on southern slopes, the south side of windbreaks, or the south sides of buildings. Considered to be a good grape for juices and jellies. The flowers are attractive to bees and birds love grapes, so be sure to plant some to share.

Raspberry - Heritage - Sale Price: $42.75 The Heritage Raspberry, 'Rubus 'Heritage', has medium-sized red berries that have very good flavor and quality. It is exceptional for fresh eating or for making pies and jams. The medium sized fruits have good color and flavor, firmness, and freezing quality.  Heritage is an outstanding everbearing variety that produces a crop in mid-July and then again in early September. They are disease-resistant, highly productive, easy-to-grow and will bear fruit the first year. The Heritage red raspberry has been given the 2004 Outstanding Fruit Cultivar Award by the American Society of Horticultural Sciences. The berries are versatile and can be used as fresh fruit, in preserves, or in pies and pastries. Raspberries may be grown successfully at an elevation as high as 7,000 feet. They do best in full sun on non-alkaline, fertile loam soil. However, they may be grown in partial shade or under other environmental constraints. Natural protection against strong winter winds are provided in some valleys, but in other areas it is necessary to provide artificial protection during winter months. Although a well-drained soil is essential for success, a sandy soil will need to have plenty of organic matter incorporated in preparation. Raspberries need a plentiful supply of moisture throughout the growing season. Raspberries take little space, and live for years. Birds also love the fruit, so you may have to share the harvest. Strawberry - Quinault - Sale Price: $42.75 Strawberry Quinault, Fragaria × ananassa 'Quinault', is a newer everbearing variety that produces berries on unrooted runners. It is a great tasting strawberry developed by Washington State University. Good for potted everbearing strawberries. It is well on its way to being the greatest performer ever. Quinault Strawberries have an excellent performance record for size, taste and plant growth. Quinault was found to be the most disease free everbearer ever tested. Everbearing Strawberries produce an early summer crop and also a fall crop with some berries on and off all summer. Pinch off blooms for first two months on everbearing strawberries to promote larger harvest. These strawberries prefer a soil pH of 5.3 to 6.5. When they reach maturity they will attain a height of 8 to 12 inches and spread will be about 12 inches. In addition to being low in fat and calories, strawberries are naturally high in fiber, vitamin C, folate, potassium and antioxidants, making them a sweet choice that advances heart health, reduces the risk of certain types of cancer, and gives a boost to total body (and mind) wellness. NOTE: When making a strawberry bed in an established garden, be sure to locate it away from any spot where you have grown peppers, tomatoes, eggplant or potatoes. These plants can harbor verticillium wilt, which is devastating to strawberries.

Raspberry - Jewel - Sale Price: $64.25 The Raspberry 'Jewel Black', Rubus idaeus 'Jewel', is an everbearing, fast growing raspberry vine. The blue-black fruits are large and sweet, containing few seeds. 'Jewel Black' ripens from June through October. The fruit ripens from red to black in color. It is reliable, hardy, and withstands cold winters. Black raspberries are the first raspberries to ripen in the spring. Jewel's rich flavor makes it an excellent choice for use in jams and jellies. This is a self-pollinating variety, so it doesn't require a second plant nearby to set fruit. 'Jewel Black' will require regular care and upkeep. It is best to cut back all dead and two-year old canes to the ground in the spring, leaving only last year's growth standing. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. The Jewel should be planted in highly organic soil and the soil should be well drained. Raspberry - Fall Gold - Sale Price: $42.75 The Fall Gold Raspberry, Rubus idaeus 'Fall Gold', a spring planted raspberry and it is an everbearing raspberry. This cultivar is an upright, thorny shrub which produces crops of gold-colored raspberries. It is called everbearing because it produces two crops on each biennial cane, unless pruned otherwise. The Fall Gold produces a fall crop on the top 1/3 of the canes and a second crop the following spring on the bottom 2/3 of the canes. The Fall Gold is an extremely hardy plant and will be hardy in temperatures to 25 degrees below zero. This raspberry is excellent fresh off of the plant, for canning and for preserves. Raspberries are rich source of vitamin C and they are high in manganese. They are also very high in dietary fiber. Eat them for taste and health! Raspberries need full sun to produce the best crops. The soil should be rich and slightly acidic. The ideal pH is 6.0 to 6.5. The soil should also be well drained. Supplement the soil with aged manure and compost for best results. For pruning the Fall Gold plant, remove the canes completely after they after they have fruited. (Usually that is in the 2nd year) The new canes will replace the ones you pruned off. Never cut off the new canes that have not produced any berries. The new canes will produce the next year’s crop.
