Bamboo - Green Panda, Fargesia rufa 'Green Panda', is a vigorous, cold hardy plant, forming new shoots in spring and quickly developing into a large clump. Green Panda™ thrives in full sun but tolerates quite a bit of shade. It is ideal for the smaller garden since its mature height reaches 6 to 8 feet and as wide. Green Panda™ is a non-invasive clumping bamboo, does not need to be contained, and makes a great accent plant. Native to western China, it is the favorite food of the Giant Panda. It prefers organic soils with good drainage; thrives in sun and also tolerates shade; plant in an area with shade during the hottest part of the day and protection from winter winds. Use in a variety of ways and at any place in the garden, as solitary specimen, as hedges or as a screen. The Barberry bush or Red Leaf Japanese bush, Berberis thunbergii, is a deciduous shrub reaching up to 24 tall and about 30 wide.
