Dogwood - Isanti
Dogwood - Isanti The Dogwood 'Isanti', Cornus sericea 'Isanti', is a fine-twigged Dogwood with red bark. White flowers in late spring are followed by abundant white fruit. The mounding plants grow 4 to 5 feet tall and spreading 4 to 8 feet. Isanti is very adaptable and will thrive in sun or partial shade. The Isanti requires a soil with adequate moisture, otherwise adaptable as it tolerates wet sites. Isanti Dogwoods are slower growing and more compact than the species, making it more usable in the landscape than the species. This plant is known for its rapid growth, bright red stems, and fruit that attract wildlife. The best stem color is on new wood. After the 3rd year, prune back 30% of the stems each year in order to promote new wood growth to get the best red winter color. Zones 2-7.

Barberry - Crimson Pygmy - Sale Price: $39.95 Like ‘Concorde,’ Crimson Pygmy is naturally small in stature, just about two feet tall and perhaps three feet wide. It has all of the characteristics you love in a landscape shrub: resistance to disease, deer and insects, and perhaps best of all, considering it’s a prickly plant, no pruning, unless you want to treat it as a topiary or downsize it. Excellent in the landscape border, in Japanese-themed gardens or as a frame for water features. Plant Crimson Pygmy against golds, yellows and deep greens for stark contrast, or as a companion to anything in the pink/rose spectrum for sheer beauty. Full sun, regular watering and soil that’s a bit on the acid side will serve this shrub well. After its root system is large and well established, it will only need watering during periods of drought. Zones 4-8. |
| Serviceberry - Sale Price: $65.65 Hardy Ornamental with Edible Fruit The Serviceberry is a popular ornamental shrub prized for its spring/fall color and sweet summer berries. It would look great in your naturalized garden or in front of some larger plantings to highlight its form and colors Your Serviceberry will be one of the first plants you notice in the spring. While the rest of your plants are still slumbering, the Serviceberry will burst forth in color. Before its leaves even begin to appear, its 5-peteled clusters of white flowers will stand in sharp contrast to the browns and greys of your transitioning landscape. You’ll enjoy watching the flowers give way to the small green berries as they progress from green to red, and eventually transform into a deep purple. The dark gems are ready to enjoy straight from the bush in the early summer. The Serviceberry is a shrubby, multi-stemmed plant that grows up to 15-25 feet with an equal spread. It’s tolerant of a wide range of soils so you won’t have to fuss over it in order for it to thrive. 3-inch dark green leaves fill out your tree, softly fuzzy at first and later glossy and smooth. Those same leaves will turn a delightful reddish-orange in the fall. Serviceberries look like large, dark blueberries and taste similar, but with an almond-like accent. They are commonly eaten raw or used in various jams and pies. The Serviceberry is a hardy ornamental shrub with a lot to offer. * Ornamental, colorful shrub* Edible fruit* Hardy |
