Spirea - Shirobana - Sale Price: $56.95 The Spirea Shirobana, 'Spiraea japonica 'Shirobana', is a very interesting, and attractive summer blooming spirea with a handsome, mounding growth habit. This spirea variety commonly displays three different colored blooms all on the same shrub - and all at the same time!  Flower heads appear in deep rose, pastel pink, and white as well. The lustrous deep green foliage of this spirea forms a handsome mound 2 to 3 feet tall.  The Shirobana begins blooming in late spring and continues off and on through the summer. Use this small shrub a an accent in the border, a low hedge or for mass plantings.  For a formal appearance, shear this plant annually after flowering. The Blue Rug is so named because of its silver-blue color and low growing habit. Blue Rug will do well in almost any well drained soil and needs moderate moisture. This is the lowest growing of all Juniper plants and they will even cascade over walls. Prune young shoots to encourage branching, but older branches may not produce new growth. This plant prefers an acidic soil for best results. In the fall this plant will produce small, round, dark berries. The berries add to the landscape effect. It is pH adaptable and salt tolerant. Use this plant for mass planting, on banks, in rock gardens, planter boxes, and around tall shrubs or trees.
