In spring, a profusion of lightly fragrant bottlebrush flowers are displayed for a very long time. The flowers of Tiarella 'Sugar & Spice' are white with a unique pink frosting. 'Sugar and Spice' will do best in full shade and needs average to moist soil. Try planting this popular perennial with Lamium ‘White Nancy’, Hosta ‘Patriot’ or ‘Japanese Painted Fern’ for contrasting color. The ruffled petals are sky blue along the edges and get lighter towards the center. The bright yellow stamens contrast nicely with the silky blue 6 flowers. Blue Angel received the Word of Recommendation by the judging committees of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society in Holland and the gold medal at 'Planetarium' in Boskoop in 1992. Clematis 'Blue Angel™' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Bright green in color and soft textured, the foliage of the Calgary Carpet has a scale-like appearance and is soft to the touch. The layered branching habit of this plant gives the subtle appearance of soft undulations in the ground beneath it. Calgary Carpet would serve nicely in a small Zen garden, with it's ability to suggest a forest of undulating green. This juniper does well in dry soils that are well drained, and needs to have partial to full sun exposure. It's mature height rarely exceeds 9 but can spread to 10' wide or more.

A reverse of Last Dance, the ‘Dance with Me’ prefers part sun for the best color display.  The heart-shaped, nearly round leaves are thick and heavily textured and have a pale yellow color with light green margins. ‘Dance with Me’ will produce long season appeal and has a good resistance to garden pests.  It is a medium sized hosta and produces lavender flowers in late summer that attract hummingbirds. It is a low care perennial that is ideal for a slightly sunny area. This hosta grows best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.
