Clematis - Vino Clematis Vino, Clematis 'Vino', features stunning, violet-red 7 flowers with contrasting creamy-yellow anthers. What an excellent flower for cut flowers and container growing! You can also let this beautiful prolific climbing clematis trail along fences and arbors in your landscape. When Vino reblooms in late summer, the flowers become smaller, about 5 in diameter, and a lighter color. The Vino flowers are borne on side shoots growing from last year's shoots. Vino will bloom primarily on old wood of the previous season, with a second flush later in summer. If necessary, prune it back every second or third year to just above a set of buds about 6-8 inches from the ground to allow it to rejuvenate. Vino prefers part shade and well drained soil. It has green foliage throughout the season and the compound leaves do not develop any appreciable fall color.
