It is easy to grow and needs at least 6 hours of direct sun per day. Desert Plains is a seedling of Cassian, but has an improved habit, better flowering performance, and richer fall color. It bursts into bloom with its showy, large 5 inch long, mauve-colored bottlebrush plumes early fall; about 2 weeks later than 'Cassian'. Once this ornamental grass is established, it takes on the heat, humidity, and punishing sun effortlessly. It tolerates drought, is easy to grow, and is deer resistant. Carefree hardy plant!
