Lavender - Hidcote - Sale Price: $32.95 The Lavender 'Hidcote', Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote', is a dwarf variety that is a compact grower and reaches 18-24 inches tall.  It produces fragrant spikes of dark purple flowers in summer.  These flowers produce the purest lavender scent! Being drought tolerant, it is ideal as a short perennial shrub border or as an herb in a kitchen garden.  Lavender was selected in 1999 as the International Herb Association Plant of the Year! This plant is great for hedges and edging because 'Hidcote' has a more erect and compact habit.  It boasts 2½-inch, linear, downy leaves on strong stems.   The leaves open white, then turn a pale gray-blue-green color.  This Lavender grows in a well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in an open, sunny spot.  For better drainage, add sand in the hole when first planting this lavender. Trim back in spring to encourage bushier growth; also deadhead after flowering. The sweetest scent of all lavender, it is also the most cold hardy, and it should be pruned back the first year. If you want dried flowers,  pick when showing color but before fully open; tie in bunches and hang in a cool, airy place. This selection has nice succulent green leaves and bright yellow flowers that appear in late summer and fall. The sprays of the bright yellow flowers are held just above the foliage on this easy-to-grow plant. Lemon Drop hugs the ground and may reach just 6 inches in height, but has a 12 inch spread. It is best to apply a thin layer of compost each spring, followed by a 2-inch layer of mulch to retain moisture and control weeds. Lemon Drop needs extra watering during the summer if rainfall is less than 1 inch per week. Choose an area where the plant will receive sunlight for at least 6 hours a day. Liriope - Variegated - Sale Price: $56.95 The Liriope 'Variegated', Liriope muscari 'Variegata', is by far one of the most popular liriope.  It is also known as Liriope variegated lily-turf, so is, as its name implies, a variegated border grass!
