Fern - Lady - Sale Price: $39.95 The Lady Fern, 'Athyrium filixfemina', is a lovely, deciduous fern that is bright yellow-green with wide, deep cut or lacy leaves that are tapered at the end.  It is a real favorite that reaches a height of 2-3'! The plants spread slowly to form dense clumps, and under the right conditions, Lady Ferns will continue to send up new fronds into the summer.  ‘Lady’ ferns will grow in a group in the shape of a circle, and as they grow farther and farther outwards, the centers die away, leaving a ring of ‘Lady’ ferns! ‘Lady’ fern is one of the easiest ferns to grow.  It prefers to be grown in part to full shade in average to rich, moist but well-drained soil that is neutral to slightly acid. Ferns can be divided and transplanted in spring and early summer, planting the crown at the surface. They thrive even when other plants fail! The Halcyon Hosta is made for the shade and is the most interesting frosty ocean-blue color, earning it the 1997 Award of Merit (AGM). It’s a vigorous (but slower) grower with ribbed, spear-shaped foliage that sits underneath white-to-lavender bell-shaped flowers from July to August — but the real show is the foliage itself. Slug-resistant, attracts hummingbirds during blooming. Halycon Hosta grows in the familiar “fountain” mound shape to about 2’ tall and wide, and prefers full shade in a moist but well-drained spot. Grass - Cabaret Maiden - Sale Price: $28.95 The Grass 'Cabaret' Maiden, Miscanthus sinensis var. conden satus 'Cabaret', is one of the most outstanding new Miscanthus selections! This plant tends to be a bit floppy and graceless in flower, but the foliage effect is grand! This outstanding grass has wide, ribbon-like foliage with a creamy white center and dark green margins. The late season plumes emerge a wonderful coral pink to purple before changing to tan. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other garden plants with finer foliage. This ornamental grass will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best cleaned up in early spring, before it resumes active growth for the season. Grow in average to moist conditions; do not allow drying out. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. Hosta - Satisfaction - Sale Price: $42.75 The Hosta Satisfaction, Hosta 'Satisfaction', is an incredibly spectacular and dramatic gold-edged sport of Hosta Piedmont Gold.  'Satisfaction' is bordered by wide leaf margins that are light green at first, and then turn bright gold in early summer. The gold margins get to be about 2 wide at maturity; near white flowers top the clump in mid-summer.  ‘Satisfaction' is a low mounded and stunning hosta.  It will have an impact on any area of your shade garden, and the margins turn cream if placed in a sunny location! Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.  It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.  Plant this low care plant in an area that receives the right amount of light.  The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves.  ‘Satisfaction' is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant.
