Coreopsis - Big Bang™ Coreopsis Big Bang™, Coreopsis 'Redshift' PP20,412 Big Bang™ Series, is a clump-forming variety that produces large 2 inch diameter creamy yellow flowers. Coreopsis 'Redshift' PP20,412 adds a pop of color with a ring of red that encircles the gold button-like centers. In the cool fall, new blooms bring an unexpected shift in color that varies from pale yellow with red streaking through the petals to a solid red. 'Redshift' Coreopsis is easy to place, requiring only a sunny spot with average garden soil. It is a very heavy bloomer and cuts well. Give this plant a hard shearing to promote rebloom. Blooms June to July with some blooming until fall. Plant 'Redshift' into well-drained, lean, non-clay soils, and mix it with red or orange flowers for an outrageous display of floral fireworks. Lavender - English Munstead - Sale Price: $39.95 The English Lavender Munstead, 'Lavandula angustifolia 'Munstead', is one of the Lavandula angustifolias or English lavenders. This plant is a branched, woody, perennial lavender plant that grows much like a small evergreen shrub. The narrow leaves are about 2 inches long and have a pleasing gray-green color. A fragrant and a robust lavender, 'Munstead' makes a great hedge. English Lavender ‘Munstead’ blooms profusely in the spring, after which a good pruning will provide an attractive gray bush with highly aromatic leaves! ‘Munstead’ is able to tolerate heat better than most other lavenders. For good drainage, add sand to the bottom of the hole, especially if planting it in clay soil. In order to have a bushier and taller plant, it should be pruned back the first year. This compact variety of English lavender has lavender blue flowers and is not only great for landscapes, but the flowers have a rich sweet flavor and are especially good when used with sweets, such as in baking and even added to tea! It needs to be planted in an area of full sun to partial shade and also must be cut down, after flowering, almost all the way to the ground. It is best to pinch rather heavily after flowering to encourage blooming throughout the summer. 'Crane's Bill' is actually an attractive plant all season, in or out of bloom. The foliage is usually more distinctly cut than other geraniums, giving it a delicate appearance. 'Crane's Bill' can be a very useful weed smothering, tight knit, ground cover. In a border or a rock garden, it is a lovely plant and striking when grown along a wall, with the stems and flowers tumbling over the edge! Geraniums are self seeding, fairly adaptable to short periods of dry conditions, and are free from pests and diseases.
