Euonymus - Canadale Gold - Sale Price: $26.95 The Euonymus Canadale Gold, 'Euonymus fortunei 'Canadale Gold', produces large green leaves with a deep golden yellow margin that are borne on strong branches to form a sturdy compact plant. The glossy oval leaves of 'Canadale Gold' are ornamentally significant but do not develop any appreciable fall color. The flowers are not ornamentally significant, but it produces pink capsules from mid to late fall. This Euonymus is a multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a ground-hugging habit of growth. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape plants with less refined foliage. This shrub performs well in both full sun and full shade. This fountain-like, deciduous shrub with its late spring or early summer flowers is an old fashioned favorite. At home in a shrub border, 'Bouquet Blanc' needs ample room for its arching branches. To renew and keep the plants form, remove oldest branches (back to ground) right after plant has finished flowering. It is a reliable and absolutely maintenance-free shrub. It is noted for its extremely early (January to February-March) and lengthy (to 4 weeks) bloom period. The fragrant, globular flower clusters have variable coloration, but flowers most frequently have yellow petals and reddish inner calyxes. Ovate, dull green leaves (2-5) turn an attractive golden yellow in autumn. Extract obtained from the leaves, bark and stems was formerly used medicinally by native Americans for, inter alia, external treatment of sprains, bruises and inflammations.
