The Switch Grass 'Dewey Blue', Panicum amarum 'Dewey Blue', is a native grass with exceptional color and great practical value. Its bold, blue-gray foliage is very attractive and ideal for infertile, dry, hot, sandy soils. This native spreads slowly by rhizomes, making it an important grass for hillsides and erosion control. The open, graceful, tan flowers appear in the fall and create interest throughout the winter months. It prefers less fertile, drier soils. If the soil is fertile and moist, it may have problems remaining upright. 'Dewey Blue' grass is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution and is very tolerant of high heat and humidity!
