Grass - Yaku Jima Maiden - Sale Price: $49.95 The Grass 'Yaku Jima' Maiden, Miscanthus sinensis 'Yaku Jima', is compact with fine textured foliage that turns reddish brown in the fall and remains attractive well into winter. The reddish flowers are showy but not quite as fluffy as most. 'Yaku Jima' is a slightly bigger plant than 'Adagio', but the main difference is that its leaves are even narrower, almost needle fine! Being very hardy and low growing, it tolerates a wide range of soil types; moderately drought tolerant; holds up to wind and snow. Coreopsis - Zagreb - Sale Price: $49.95 The Coreopsis ‘Zagreb’, Coreopsis verticillata, is a prolific bloomer of bright yellow flowers that bloom from June through October. Winner of the 2001 RHS Award of Garden Merit, Coreopsis ‘Zagreb’ is a little shorter than the rest of the Coreopsis family. With a plant height of 15” and a spread of 12-18”, its delicate dark green foliage has an airy and delicate appearance. ‘Zagreb’ should be planted in full sun. It is drought-tolerant and tough but does need well-drained soil. It should be cut backing early and late summer to extend the bloom period. Coreopsis Zagreb looks great with any type of grass, in borders or mass plantings in sunny gardens. It is very effective in naturalized areas, rock and cottage gardens or wild gardens. Being named Perennial of the Year in 1991, one can see why. With its unique deep purple foliage, fading to bronzy green in hot summers, and its dark red stems, it is a little different than the rest.
