Hosta - Silver Bay
Hosta - Silver Bay Hosta Silver Bay, Hosta 'Silver Bay', is one of the best new blue hostas on the market, and one of the most talked about hostas in recent years! The heart-shaped, intense, silver blue leaves form an attractive mound. The leaves are also thick and heavily corrugated. Pale lavender flowers top the mound in mid-late summer. 'Silver Bay' is a real winner! Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails. Plant this low care plant in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves. 'Silver Bay' is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant. 'Silver Bay' has a great spread of 2-3 feet, filling in your shaded space very nicely; a special plant that should be planted in a very special place! * Blue hosta * Easy to grow * Mounding habit
