Your Royalty Lilac is a medium sized perennial shrub. It can grow to about 10 feet tall with an 8 foot spread. It’s compact and extremely hardy, including resistance to disease and deer. The dark green leaves are a bit coarser than some other Lilacs and create a particularly superior backdrop for the lighter lavender color of the flowers. The flower buds are decidedly darker than the light lavender blooms, which creates an enchanting two-toned effect. Perhaps most advantageous, your Royalty Lilac is a heavy bloomer that continues to bloom later into the summer than other Lilacs. The Hydrangea 'Late Panicle', Hydrangea paniculata 'Tardiva', this shrub has white airy flowers that can reach 10-12 in length in late August. The flower heads will stay on the plant during much of the winter if conditions are not severe.
