The Bonica rose was voted the World's Favorite Rose in 1997 by the World Federation of Rose Societies and an All-America Winner in 1987. The Bonica deserves the recognition! The 2 to 3 inch double blossoms are medium to light pink. Bonica develops bright orange-red hips in the fall which are attractive and a source of food for birds. Bonica roses are easy to grow, and are very colorful and disease resistant. For more and repeating blooms, deadhead when the flowers fade. The Rose, Perfume Delight Hybrid Tea, 'Rosa sp. 'Perfume Delight', is a very fragrant rose. The F. J. Grootendorst, Rosa Rugosa 'F. J. Grootendorst', displays clusters of small crimson flowers with frilled edges and they have spicy fragrance. It will grow to about 2 1/2’ if pruned back each spring. F. J. Grootendorst is very thorny like most rugosas and is a repeat bloomer. Rugosa roses are very tolerant of harsh conditions. They can tolerate wind, poor soil and salt spray. Grootendorst grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Provide good air circulation and remove fallen leaves to help prevent disease. Rugosas respond well to pruning so it can be kept smaller if desired. ‘Radcor’ is the 2007 AARS Winner, the heaviest bloomer of the Knock Out® rose family. This vigorous multi-stemmed shrub has dark pink buds and coral-pink, cup-shaped blossoms that blend with hot pink, then reveal a sunny yellow center. It is as tough as it is beautiful: shrugs off pests, powdery mildew, rust and black spot. A can’t-miss rose that will bloom and bloom from spring until late fall, and then you can enjoy the lovely orange hips through winter. Plant these as flowering hedge, garden boundary or group them as a focal point; they are a perfect anchor for a perennial bed, and are glorious as a cut flower. This rose has its own root. The advantage of own root roses is that once established they are very resilient.
