Weigela - Minuet The Weigela 'Minuet', Weigela florida 'Minuet', is a hardy dwarf variety with green-tinged-purple leaves. This plant was developed in Canada ‘Minuet’ is a dense, rounded, deciduous weigela that is noted for its dwarf size, purple tinged foliage, and purplish red flowers with yellow throats. Minuet produces a profusion of slightly fragrant flowers, a minuet in color. The corolla is ruby red, the petal lobes are lilac-purple, and the throat is yellow. This weigela needs full sun for best flowering and foliage color, but will tolerate very light or sun dappled shade. Prune to shape if needed immediately after flowering. Hardier than other dwarf cultivars, it is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. It forms a compact, rounded shape that is very attractive.
