Weigela - Spilled Wine
Weigela - Spilled Wine Weigela Spilled Wine, Weigela florida 'Bokraspiwi', has wavy leaves that have a rich, dark purple-red color that intensifies to near black in late summer; does not fade to green like some older selections! This handsome deep purple foliage adds a delightful extra touch to this plant! There is a spring flush of hot pink magenta flowers, with additional flowering through summer and fall. The tubular flowers are adored by swarms of hummingbirds that enjoy the nectar of these bright, colorful flowers. This smart little shrub looks like an exotic special, but actually it's easy to grow, very dependable, and super long-blooming. Prune to shape after flowering, and fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer. Spilled Wine has a spreading habit and is a smaller plant--wider than it is tall. This plant is beautiful as a specimen, in the mixed border, or foundation plantings; loves full sun, and is deer resistant. * Extremely adaptable * Spectacular colors
