The Pink Poppet Weigela, Weigela florida 'Pink Poppet', is the first in an upcoming line of weigelas with similar ground-cover habit. It has an almost trailing form reaching only 2’ tall and spreading up to 40. This dwarf, dense, rounded, deciduous shrub produces funnel shaped shell-pink flowers that are born in profusion in June, and then with a lighter re-bloom again in late summer. This plant needs excellent drainage, mulching and a peat moss soil additive. Roots will rot in poorly drained soil. It will not do well in windy sites. This shrub is fussy about its soil conditions.
