Spiraea - Tor - Sale Price: $51.35 The Spirea 'Tor', Spiraea betuliflia 'Tor', is a compact spirea reaching a height and width of 2-3 ft. Its tiny white flower clusters are set against a backdrop of deep green leaves that are almost iridescent in the summer. The bright foliage turns a deep, purplish-red in the fall. The flowers are attractive to butterflies. A light shearing will encourage repeat bloom.  Tor blooms on new wood so pruning in early spring or late winter is recommended. Because of its small size and great attributes, Tor makes a wonderful foundation plant.  It can also be used as a specimen or grouped for rock gardens.  This spirea looks fabulous when planted in a mass!  Try using it as a low hedge for paths and walkways too. Western Sand Cherry - Sale Price: $64.25 Western Sand Cherry, prunus besseyi, displays attractive, single, white flowers in May, and then it produces an abundance of 3/4 purple-black sweet fruits.  They can be eaten fresh, dried, or processed as jellies and pies. This hardy rounded shrub has silver-green foliage.  Plant the shrub where it will be in direct sunlight for most or all of the day. Well-drained soil is best, but isn't an absolute requirement, as sand cherry is very adaptable to poor soil. It grows 5-6 feet in height and width, forming a rounded shape, and makes a great shrub for farmstead windbreaks. Hydrangea - Phantom - Sale Price: $99.95 The Hydrangea Phantom, Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom', produces massive, dense conical flower clusters at the ends of the branches, which look like the Hydrangea ‘Limelight' on steroids! The large flower heads on this Peegee type hydrangea start out ivory and progress to white with pinkish tips. Tending to be a bit leggy and with a two foot clearance from the ground, Phantom hydrangea will grow to be about 10 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 10 feet; suitable for planting under power lines. This hydrangea shrub performs well in both full sun and full shade. It shouldn't be allowed to dry out so the soil needs to be kept moist. Being highly tolerant of urban pollution, Phantom will even thrive in inner city environments. It is best to apply thick mulch around the plant to protect it in exposed locations or colder zones.
