Barren Strawberry
Barren Strawberry The Barren Strawberry', also known as Waldsteinia ternata, is a wonderful ground cover that grows in full sun to part shade and prefers normal to sandy soils. It has dark, dense, evergreen, strawberry-like foliage that forms into nice mounds with a height of 4-6. This plant spreads by runners and can cover a space relatively quickly. 'Barren Strawberry' bears yellow flowers in spring and then shows warm, yellow colors in autumn. This plant looks great when combined with Veronica 'Royal Candles', Saliva 'Marcus' and grasses. Getting its name from its strawberry-like growth habit, it adapts to most soil types and tolerates drought quite well. ‘Barren Strawberry’ can be used to colonize banks, or use as an alternative evergreen ground cover or edging plant. * Ground cover * Drought tolerant * Spreading

| Violet - Purple Showers - Sale Price: $42.75 Violet Purple Showers, Viola 'Purple Showers', is very appropriately named! The large 2 electric purple flowers will shower your landscape nearly all spring and summer! 'Purple Showers' blooms profusely in spring and then continues with sporadic flowering until fall. The 8 flower stems rise nicely above the foliage and make excellent cut flowers. Violets grow best in cool, moist, shady environments. In the north, plants can tolerate full sun but prefer partial to full shade. Shade from deciduous trees is ideal because the plants growing below receive full sun in the spring, followed by protection from the harsh summer sun once the trees get their leaves. If plants are cut back after the first bloom cycle, they will likely bloom again in the fall. Deadheading spent flowers will prolong the blooming season and promote a new flush of growth. Use this plant as a groundcover or as an edge. It also makes a great container plant! Enjoy the dancing blooms atop the low mounds of glossy green, heart-shaped leaves! |

Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.
