Barren Strawberry
The Barren Strawberry', also known as Waldsteinia ternata, is a wonderful ground cover that grows in full sun to part shade and prefers normal to sandy soils.  It has dark, dense, evergreen, strawberry-like foliage that forms into nice mounds with a height of 4-6.   This plant spreads by runners and can cover a space relatively quickly. 'Barren Strawberry' bears yellow flowers in spring and then shows warm, yellow colors in autumn. This plant looks great when combined with Veronica 'Royal Candles', Saliva 'Marcus' and grasses. Getting its name from its strawberry-like growth habit, it adapts to most soil types and tolerates drought quite well.  ‘Barren Strawberry’ can be used to colonize banks, or use as an alternative evergreen ground cover or edging plant. * Ground cover * Drought tolerant * Spreading

Hosta - Guardian Angel - DetailsHosta - Guardian Angel - Sale Price: $42.75
Hosta Guardian Angel, Hosta 'Guardian Angel', is a sport of 'Blue Angel’.  This hosta has large blue-green leaves that put on a show in early spring by displaying white centers.  As the plant matures, it tends to keep its white centers longer into the spring season. 'Guardian Angel' is quite unique because it offers this unusual color patterning: in the spring, the center of each new leaf is bright white, while the margins are cool blue!  This is the just the opposite of normal hosta leaf patterns. By late spring, a distinctive green misting covers the white centers, and in midsummer, clusters of light lavender flowers are produced.  Hosta 'Guardian Angel' has been chosen as a Popularity Poll winning specimen! This attractive sport of Hosta 'Blue Angel' can be somewhat slow growing, but will make a large mound when mature. 'Guardian Angel' is a low care perennial and is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular landscape uses.  It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails. It grows well in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. Plant 'Guardian Angel' in an area that receives the right amount of light.  The leaves need some morning sun to bring the rich golden color out; too much sun will burn the leaves.  'Guardian Angel’ is a vigorous grower, a good sized hosta, and has a plump, symmetrical habit! * Unique patterning * Slow grower * Mounded habit

Butterfly Plant - Cinderella - DetailsButterfly Plant - Cinderella - Sale Price: $39.95
Butterfly Plant Cinderella, Asclepias incarnata 'Cinderella', is a virtually hassle-free perennial, offering three months of vanilla-scented, rose-pink flowers in large, compact clusters from midsummer to early fall. Deadheading the flowers will stimulate another bloom cycle about a month after the first one. The flowers, which are heavily laden with nectar and pollen, are particularly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects. Asclepias incarnata is easily grown in medium to wet soils in full sun. It is surprisingly tolerant of average well-drained soils in cultivation even though the species is native to swamps and wet meadows. Plants have deep taproots and are best left undisturbed once established. Foliage is slow to emerge in spring. Once established, Swamp Milkweed requires little care. Though it is perfectly cold-hardy in the north, mulching plants in winter will help prevent frost-heaving. In spring, trim back last year's growth and await the beautiful new foliage that will appear a bit later than other perennials. Following the fabulous flowers, typical milkweed seed pods develop which rupture to reveal seeds with long, silvery-white, silky hairs. * These are great to use in dried flower arrangements! * Deer resistant * Long bloom period

Lavender - Hidcote - DetailsLavender - Hidcote - Sale Price: $32.95
The Lavender 'Hidcote', Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote', is a dwarf variety that is a compact grower and reaches 18-24 inches tall.  It produces fragrant spikes of dark purple flowers in summer.  These flowers produce the purest lavender scent! Being drought tolerant, it is ideal as a short perennial shrub border or as an herb in a kitchen garden.  Lavender was selected in 1999 as the International Herb Association Plant of the Year! This plant is great for hedges and edging because 'Hidcote' has a more erect and compact habit.  It boasts 2½-inch, linear, downy leaves on strong stems.   The leaves open white, then turn a pale gray-blue-green color.  This Lavender grows in a well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in an open, sunny spot.  For better drainage, add sand in the hole when first planting this lavender. Trim back in spring to encourage bushier growth; also deadhead after flowering. The sweetest scent of all lavender, it is also the most cold hardy, and it should be pruned back the first year. If you want dried flowers,  pick when showing color but before fully open; tie in bunches and hang in a cool, airy place. One of the most famous of all herbs, 'Hidcote' is used most often in sachets in the home  and for perfumes! * Dwarf * Cold hardy * Pale gray, blue-green foliage

Dianthus - Fire Star - DetailsDianthus - Fire Star - Sale Price: $39.95
The Dianthus Fire Star, Dianthus 'Fire Star' (PPAF), has vibrant red flowers with a dark red eye.  The flowers provide a striking contrast as they appear on evergreen, glaucous grey-green foliage; the foliage gives off a spicy scent of cloves!   The red flowers with a deeper crimson eye appear on stems rising slightly above the foliage mound to 8” tall; flowers bloom 3-5 per stem.  Flowering may continue sporadically throughout the summer. This plant blooms the best in the early summer, however, it will rebloom in the fall if deadheaded.  It is a favorite as a border plant or in rock gardens. 'Fire Star' needs a sunny site with well-drained soil, but will tolerate some shade in the afternoon along with humidity.  Regular watering during prolonged dry spells will be necessary.  However, this plant is tolerant of short periods of dryness. 'Fire Star' provides showers of cheerful, charming flowers that become a truly great addition to any perennial garden!  * Easy to grow * Vigorous * Drought tolerant
