False Indigo - Twilite Prairiebluesâ„¢ False Indigo Twilite Prairieblues, Baptisia 'Twilite Prairieblues™' PPAF, is an amazing, vigorous and strong growing hybrid of Baptisia australis and Baptisia sphaerocarpa. This new color breakthrough is the result of extensive breeding efforts at the Chicago Botanical Garden. By the third year 'Twilite Prairieblues™' PPAF produces almost 100 flower spikes of unique deep pea-like violet-purple flowers, highlighted by a dramatic lemon-yellow keel. Held above the handsome blue-green foliage, the inflorescences can be up to 32 inches long! When 'Twilite Prairieblues™' is not in bloom, this plant remains attractive because of the lovely blue-green colored leaves it displays, especially throughout the spring season! It is a good, vigorous grower, extremely long lived, and destined to become a favorite in the garden. The Baptisia looks attractive by itself, against walls and fences, or combined in the back of a border with other June bloomers. Full sun is best for the most successful flowering and performance. It grows well in average to dry soil but adapts to most conditions. 'Twilite Prairieblues™' has a very deep tap root, giving it the ability to survive long dry periods and making it a challenge to move once it is established. The plant can be cut back after flowering to encourage a flush of new blue-green growth. It is deer resistant. 'Twilite Prairieblues™ has the most attractive foliage of a Baptisia, and it does take a couple of years to really get going! * Favorite * Drought tolerant * Impressive flowers
