'Sultry Kiss' hibiscus displays brilliant, deep red buds that open to 9-11 inch wide, overlapping, purple-red flowers.  This hibiscus forms an upright mound of foliage that is well-branched with maple-like, dark green leaves that are bronze when they first emerge; and then mature to a dark green with reddish-purple stems. It provides a profusion of color from midsummer until frost. This super-long blooming shrub attracts butterflies, bees and hummingbirds all season long. 'Sultry Kiss' hibiscus need very little care over the winter; root hardy and needs no protection. 'Sultry Kiss' will die to the ground each year, so should be cut back to 4-6 from the ground in the spring.  Be careful not to over-water until plants show signs of growth.  Moist soils are best, but this hardy hibiscus is very drought tolerant as well.   It grows well in any fertile, well-drained soil with ample moisture.  Do not allow to dry to the wilting point.  Be patient; hibiscus can be slow to emerge in spring.  For best performance, plant in full sun in moist soil, before the heat of the summer. This 'Sultry Kiss' hibiscus is suitable for very large containers, but pots must be protected over winter.  Hibiscus needs little care once established, attracts butterflies, and it has the largest flowers of any perennial! * Large red flowers * Upright mound * Vigorous grower
