Grass - Northwind Switch
Grass - Northwind Switch The Switch Grass 'Northwind', Panicum virgatum 'Northwind', is a very erect form and tolerates some snow load. The yellow flowers are golden during autumn, and the foliage is deep green during the growing season turning golden in the fall. The wide, thick leaf blades are a bit more substantial than those of the other blues. 'Northwind' grass was one of the many important tall-grasses that covered the U.S. prairies. It is a versatile grass as it tolerates a wide range of soil and climatic conditions. This grass makes excellent background plants, and since this grass tolerates moist soils, it is a fine choice for water gardens or along stream banks. 'Northwind' prefers full sun, and moist, fertile soil; however, the plant will tolerate sand, heavy clay, dry slopes and boggy areas. This grass spreads quickly or slowly by rhizomes, depending on growing conditions. Northwind is a native grass and it is tough! Use it in your landscape as a vertical accent, in a mixed border, or as border hedge. This popular plant always sells out fast! Order yours now!

| Hosta - Ripple Effect - Sale Price: $42.75 The Hosta Ripple Effect, Hosta 'Ripple Effect’, has plenty of bright color that will attract everyone's attention! Ripple Effect is a unique hosta that is a sport of ‘June’. It produces long, twisted, and narrow gold leaves that have a “ripple” effect. When the new leaves emerge, they have narrow blue-green margins that blend nicely toward their golden yellow centers. The foliage makes a transition in the summer: to chartreuse with green margins. Having lots of appeal, this low horizontal mounding hosta displays its lavender flowers in the summer, rising above its unique foliage. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails. Plant this low care plant in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves. 'Ripple Effect’ is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant. 'Ripple Effect’ is a unique hosta and has lots of appeal so it will attract attention wherever it is planted! * Twisted and rippled leaves * Horizontal mounding * Mounded habit |
