Yew - Erecta - Sale Price: $45.65 Beautiful  Compact Hedge Shrub Yew - Erecta, Taxus baccata 'Erecta', is an upright, columnar shrub with a stiff, erect and bushy habit. It has small dark green leaves and the bark is typically reddish brown and the berries, when present, are red. Erecta prefers a moist, slightly acidic soil with a decent amount of light; can tolerate some shade. Erecta is excellent for hedges or as a backdrop in the formal garden. Erecta is less compact than 'Stricta' and with smaller leaves. This slender shrub tolerates shearing, is especially tolerant of shade, and is drought tolerant once established. Erecta Yew is an excellent choice for hedging where space is limited.

'Lucy' bears double red-pink flowers from late summer until mid-fall. This plant really requires no pruning, unless you need to remove a dead or damaged branch. It has a long, early summer to fall bloom period. This cultivar is a sterile triploid that produces very few if any seed pods. It is an excellent flowering shrub that may be massed, planted in groups, or used as a specimen. The plant is very tolerant of summer heat and humidity. Larger flowers may be obtained by pruning back hard to 2-3 buds in early spring. Otherwise, prune to shape.
