Kerria - Golden Guinea - Sale Price: $92.75 The Golden Guinea Kerria, Kerria japonica 'Golden Guinea', is a tough, upright, rounded shrub that will brighten up your sun or shade border. It is a twiggy, deciduous shrub with double-toothed, corrugated foliage. 'Golden Guinea' has golden yellow, globe-shaped flowers that are borne from April through May. The interesting bright green stems stay green all winter. If grown in sun, it does prefer protection from late afternoon sun. Really effective planted around white barked aspen. Easily grown in average garden soils.

It has a compact habit and the showy display of flowers makes this an outstanding Potentilla. Besides blooming into late fall, it is also deer resistant. It is widely regarded as one the best yellow-flowering potentilla cultivars. This shrub requires occasional maintenance. It is best pruned in late winter. Shear to control size and shape. Goldfinger should only be grown in full sunlight. It is adaptable to moist or dry locations. It is not particular to soil type or pH levels. This plant excels in urban conditions.
