Yew - Hicks
Yew - Hicks Yew - Hicks, Taxus x media 'Hicksii', is one of the most popular upright columnar yews. It is a dense, narrow, columnar, evergreen shrub with ascending branching with lustrous dark green needles above and lighter green below. It typically matures to a height of 18' to 20' with a spread of 6' to 10' wide after 20 years; very narrow when young and widening with age. Yews are classified as conifers, but female plants (yews are dioecious) produce red, fleshy, single-seeded fruit instead of cones. Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils of neutral pH in full sun to part shade. Hicks Yew tolerates a wide range of soils as long as drainage is good. Also tolerant of full shade and considerable pruning, but intolerant of temperature extremes. Use as a specimen, screen, hedge or foundation plant.

Sumac - Rocky Mountain - Sale Price: $92.75 The Rocky Mountain Sumac, Rhus glabra cismontana 'Rocky Mountain', is a suckering, thicket-forming plant with small upright tree-like branches. On female plants, yellow-green flowers are followed by bright-red, hairy berries in erect, pyramidal clusters which persist throughout winter. It can be used as a “specimen thicket†in industrial landscapes and is quite valuable for adding a tropical, lush look to a xeric garden. In a planned landscape, the species is most effective when drifts or colonies, typical of natural settings, are allowed to establish. The colonies can be rejuvenated every few years by cutting them to the ground in mid-winter. 'Rocky Mountain' Sumac will grow in dry waste areas, such as impossible slopes where even junipers struggle. It is fast growing, generally pest and disease-free, and drought-tolerant. |
  | Bush Honeysuckle - Dwarf - Sale Price: $32.95  Small Ornamental Shrub The Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle is a small deciduous bush with ornamental features. One would look great as a specimen planting, but several would look outstanding as a mass planting in the foreground of taller plantings. There are few things more delightful than a honeysuckle in the yard, and the Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle is a way to have several without the need for a lot of room or a climbing structure. Your Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle is a vigorous, fast-growing shrub. It’s small, only about four feet tall with a spreading nature. Bees, butterflies and birds all love it, and hummingbirds will soon consider your yard their favorite place in the neighborhood. The flowers are simply irresistible to many creatures, and you’ll feel the same way once you experience their unique beauty and alluring scent. The exotic, tubular flowers with protruding stamens scatter their yellow brilliance amid the bronze-tipped, green foliage in late spring/early summer. You’ll also love the sweet scent they send drifting on the afternoon breeze. Fall color can be inconsistent, but you can likely expect to be impressed by the red-bronze hues your Honeysuckle leaves will adopt for their fall display. The bark also tends to be somewhat exfoliating, revealing an inner orange hue that is lovely in the winter. The Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle is an extraordinary ornamental shrub that offers a lot for the small amount of space it requires. Scatter several around your yard to draw pollinators to your yard, or group them together and magnify the impact of this beautiful compact shrub. * Exotic flowers * Compact size * Fall color |
  | Spiraea - Flaming Mound - Sale Price: $24.95 The Flaming Mound Spiraea, Spiraea japonica 'Flaming Mound', is a medium compact bushy plant with foliage that emerges flaming red.  It then ages to a golden yellow. In summer, showy, deep pink flowers are borne on upright, rounded corymbs to 4 inches in diameter.  The small, showy, long lasting flowers are a stunning contrast against the bright foliage. 'Flaming Mound' will re-bloom if deadheaded, and it has excellent coppery-orange-red fall color. Preferring full sun and well drained soil, this spirea is fast growing and good for filling a space in a shrub border. It is recommended that it will benefit from severe spring pruning every couple of years.  For a neater look and better secondary bloom, remove old blossom heads in June. * Fast growing * Foliage color * Low maintenance |
  | Hydrangea - Phantom - Sale Price: $99.95 The Hydrangea Phantom, Hydrangea paniculata 'Phantom', produces massive, dense conical flower clusters at the ends of the branches, which look like the Hydrangea ‘Limelight' on steroids! The large flower heads on this Peegee type hydrangea start out ivory and progress to white with pinkish tips. Tending to be a bit leggy and with a two foot clearance from the ground, Phantom hydrangea will grow to be about 10 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 10 feet; suitable for planting under power lines. This hydrangea shrub performs well in both full sun and full shade. It shouldn't be allowed to dry out so the soil needs to be kept moist. Being highly tolerant of urban pollution, Phantom will even thrive in inner city environments. It is best to apply thick mulch around the plant to protect it in exposed locations or colder zones. Producing the fullest flower heads of any hydrangea, Phantom has stems that are much sturdier and thicker than other past hydrangea and does not flop under the heavy weight of its oversized blooms. This multi-stemmed deciduous shrub will certainly standout in any landscape either as an accent plant or when planted in mass! |
