Hosta - Abiqua Drinking Gourd
Hosta Abiqua Drinking Gourd, Hosta 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd’ won  the Best Green Hosta Award and the Lucille Simper Award in 1996! Its unique dark blue-green, seer suckered leaves form cup shapes that can be up to 3 deep.  Hosta 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd' produces white flowers on 22 scapes in early summer and demonstrates good slug resistance. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions.  Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd’ needs high-filtered or dappled sunlight;  necessary for clean, healthy growth.  Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas! The unusual shape and cool tones of this large 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd' Hosta make it attention-getting in the border, along the foundation, or as an accent planting in any setting. You will love its slow growth and wonderfully textured foliage! * Slug resistant * Dark blue-green leaves * Shade lover
