Hosta - August Moon
Hosta - August Moon The Hosta ‘August Moon’, Hosta sieboldiana, has wide, heart-shaped gold colored foliage with slightly rippled margins, making it very striking! The white to pale lavender flowers bloom from July to August. Hostas are not known only for their flowers, but mostly for their foliage. With a plant height of 24” and a spread of 24-36”, ‘August Moon’ provides bright color in shade with its wonderful foliage. Hosta ‘August Moon’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area. It grows best in highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. This low care perennial is ideal for tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular for landscape uses. A great choice for any beginner gardener! ‘August Moon’ needs high-filtered or dappled sunlight which is necessary for clean, healthy growth. Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors of this plant, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas! You will be very pleased with the lovely foliage and easy care of ‘August Moon’! * Low maintenance * Striking foliage * Shade lover

Violet - Purple Showers - Sale Price: $42.75 Violet Purple Showers, Viola 'Purple Showers', is very appropriately named! The large 2 electric purple flowers will shower your landscape nearly all spring and summer! 'Purple Showers' blooms profusely in spring and then continues with sporadic flowering until fall. The 8 flower stems rise nicely above the foliage and make excellent cut flowers. Violets grow best in cool, moist, shady environments. In the north, plants can tolerate full sun but prefer partial to full shade. Shade from deciduous trees is ideal because the plants growing below receive full sun in the spring, followed by protection from the harsh summer sun once the trees get their leaves. If plants are cut back after the first bloom cycle, they will likely bloom again in the fall. Deadheading spent flowers will prolong the blooming season and promote a new flush of growth. Use this plant as a groundcover or as an edge. It also makes a great container plant! Enjoy the dancing blooms atop the low mounds of glossy green, heart-shaped leaves! |

This switch grass is quite durable and grows well under stressful conditions. Dust Devil grass will remain standing through winter unless snows are very heavy. The blue-green to green foliage forms an upright, dense clump, and when the season turns to fall, it shows off a hint of deep purple red. Lavender pink flower panicles appear in late summer; flowers turn tan as they age. Dust Devil provides shelter for birds and wildlife during the coldest days of winter. Switch grass gets its name from the soft swishing sound it makes when swaying in the wind. A very versatile grass, Dust Devil adds an architectural design to any landscape. | Lungwort - Cevennensis - Sale Price: $56.95 Lungwort Cevennensis, Pulmonaria longifolia 'Cevennensis', is a clump forming lungwort that is valued by gardeners for its attractive foliage. It features very long and narrow silvery spotted leaves. In the spring, drooping clusters of funnel-shaped, dark violet-blue flowers appear. Lungwort Cevennensis is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in part shade to full shade, but it prefers cool soils that are moist and humusy. This lungwort is very tolerant of wet, poorly drained soils, so it must have constant moisture and not be allowed to dry out; leaves can depreciate considerably in extremely hot weather or too much sun. Keeping the plant moist will maintain an attractive foliage after bloom and throughout the summer. Lungwort Cevennensis spreads very slowly by creeping roots, and it is best to divide the plants in the fall. Deer resistant. |
| Heucherella - Solar Power - Sale Price: $54.95 Heucherella Solar Power (Foamy Bells), Heucherella 'Solar Power', displays yellow gold foliage that is splashed with a deep red. It has an amazing tolerance for the sun - without burning! ‘Solar Power’ does well in full sun in the north, but needs some shade, especially in the afternoon, in the south. It remains lime green with splashes of deep red when planted in full shade. When the cool days of fall arrive, the red splattering expands and fills much of the leaf. 'Solar Power' shows off its outstanding colors when planted in mass as a ground cover or in groups; also does well in rock gardens, borders, and open woodland gardens. It is also deer resistant! This heat and humidity tolerant foamy bell is easy to grow and has become incredibly popular in landscapes. Hosta 'Queen of the Seas' won the Best of Show award at the 1997 American Hosta Society national convention! In midsummer, the 'Queen of the Seas' clumps are topped with 3' spikes of lavender flowers. In warmer southern zones, the color may deepen to green in summer. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves.
