Hosta - Guacamole
The Hosta Guacamole, Hosta 'Guacamole', is a medium sized hosta with avocado green, veined foliage with dark green margins.  The 3 foot stems produce flower stalks, bearing fragrant, lily-like white blooms! The white flowers of this fast growing hosta bloom in late summer and provide bright color in shade.  ‘Guacamole’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained spot.  A great choice for any beginner gardener! This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular landscape uses.  One should keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce slugs and snails. 'Guacamole' grows best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. Plant 'Guacamole' in an area that receives the right amount of light.  The leaves need some morning sun to bring the rich golden color out; too much sun will burn the leaves.  This hosta mixes well with ferns. ‘Guacamole’ was named the 2002 Hosta of the Year and is definitely one of the hostas with the most fragrant flowers! * Avocado colored foliage * Fragrant flowers * Low maintenance
