Japanese Spurge - Green Sheen
Japanese Spurge - Green Sheen The Japanese Spurge 'Green Sheen', Pachysandra terminalis 'Green Sheen', has lustrous, shiny green leaves; the sheen is so impressive you think it can't be real! It is an evergreen ground cover, and the plant has a tidy habit which makes it a landscape winner. It grows in deep shade and is ideal for using under shallow rooted trees. Maturing at a height of 12 inches, it spreads slowly to moderately fast by underground rhizomes. 'Green Sheen' prefers well drained, organically rich loam and shade. It will tolerate some sun in northern zones, but needs shade in southern zones. 'Green Sheen' tolerates heat and humidity better than other Pachysandras. It features tiny spikes of white flowers rising above the foliage in mid spring. This Pachysandra will transform otherwise bare and ugly ground areas into attractive year-round cover! This spurge is also very effective as a border plant along paths or driveway edgings and can be used as a lawn substitute in shaded non-traffic areas. 'Green Sheen' makes an excellent ground cover in small shady areas! * Heat and humidity tolerant * Ground cover * Shiny leaves

| Daylily - Ruby Spider - Sale Price: $39.95 Hemerocallis Ruby Spider, Hemerocallis 'Ruby Spider', is one daylily you just have to have in your garden! It will be a show stopper with immense 9 flowers that are pure, saturated deep red with a golden yellow throat and mid ribs. Being a truly extraordinary form of daylily, its large petals are long and spoon-shaped. Use 'Ruby Spider' as a marvelous specimen plant, or it can make a grand statement when planted in masses. 'Ruby Spider’ is a dormant tetraploid which means its foliage dies back in winter; this is an important consideration for northern gardeners since 'Ruby Spider' is a great choice for the far north! Individual flowers last only one day, but since each plant produces many buds, the total blooming time of a well-established clump may last more than a month. Use this daylily for color in shrub borders and in perennial beds; attracts butterflies. Once established, the daylily can be an excellent groundcover on slopes because it has roots that hold soil against erosion. Divide every 3-5 years, or when the number of flower buds and the size of bloom begin to decline. 'Ruby Spider' makes a beautiful floral arrangement, and is a terrific plant that any gardener can claim as “marvelous”! * Survives in far north * Stunning color * Hardy |
| Hosta - First Frost - Sale Price: $12.99 The Hosta First Frost, Hosta 'First Frost', is a handsome sport of ‘Halcyon’ and begins in spring with deep blue leaves with a gold colored edging. This edging is irregular and just about half an inch wide. Then 'First Frost' evolves to a pure white in summer. The light lavender flowers appear on 28 inch scapes in midsummer. ‘First Frost’ is resistant to pests and puts on a colorful display in your garden all season long. It maintains its outstanding blue color and beautiful edging until the “first frost” in the fall; named a Designer Hosta™ and 2010 Hosta of the Year! Since the foliage spreads 3 feet wide, ‘First Frost’ is a fine size for groundcover, edging, or specimen use. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions. 'First Frost' grows best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. High-filtered or dappled sunlight is necessary for clean, healthy growth. Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas! 'First Frost' is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well in containers. This handsome hosta will add fall color to a garden since its leaves retain their color until the first frost! * Staying power * Blue to white leaves * Low maintenance |
