 A Late Blooming Lilac with Fall Color The Miss Canada Lilac is an extremely hardy late blooming Lilac. It’s also one our best selling pink Lilacs. Miss Canadas graceful arched branches make it lovely as a hedge or foundation plant. It is also easily shaped into an elegant small tree, a beautiful statement next to a patio. The much loved heart shaped leaves are a dark green, and will transform to a brilliant buttery yellow in the fall. In late spring your Miss Canada will be smothered in upright clusters of lightly fragrant rosy pink flowers. The clear pink blooms rising above the deep green foliage makes a stunning display. The Miss Canada Lilac performs best in full sun and adapts well to warmer climates. It is very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds, it’s ultra hardy and easy to grow, and it’s deer resistant. The Juniper Blue Rug, 'Juniperus horizontalis Wiltonii', is an excellent ground cover or bank planting with it low growing thick foliage. The Blue Rug is so named because of its silver-blue color and low growing habit. Blue Rug will do well in almost any well drained soil and needs moderate moisture. This is the lowest growing of all Juniper plants and they will even cascade over walls. Prune young shoots to encourage branching, but older branches may not produce new growth. This plant prefers an acidic soil for best results. In the fall this plant will produce small, round, dark berries. The berries add to the landscape effect. It is pH adaptable and salt tolerant. The Regel Privet, Ligustrum obtusifolium var. regelianum, is a low shrub with spreading branches. The small fragrant white flowers are freely produced, followed by dark blue berries that persist into the winter. 'Regel' Privet works well as a specimen or in masses. It is a semi-evergreen to deciduous fast growing shrub. 'Regel' has an upright oval, to radiating rounded growth habit in youth, maturing to an arching vase growth habit with age. It can be pruned to create a formal hedge. 'Regel' Privet prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun in humid southern environments, but is one of the better deciduous hedges for northern climates. It is highly adaptable to many urban stress situations.
