Mugho Pine - Pumilo
Mugho Pine - Pumilo Mugho Pine - Pumilo, Pinus mugo 'Pumilio', is a popular dwarf conifer that is rugged, hardy and has dark green needles on dense branches; makes an ideal choice for xeriscaping or for the moisture-conserving landscape. Pumilo is a useful slow growing evergreen for rock gardens, mass plantings and in groupings; a great container plant too. In order for it to maintain its excellent form, texture, and color detail in the garden, this Dwarf Mugo Pine needs full sun and prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil. It will die in standing water. Prune candles to keep tight and maintain a dense habit of growth. It tends to fill out right to the ground so doesn't necessarily require facer plants in front. Mugho Pine is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This is a rather low maintenance shrub and if pruning is necessary, it is recommended to only trim back the new growth of the current season, other than to remove any dieback. Mugho Pine grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions, can be expected to live for 50 years or more. * Evergreen! * Long-Lived! * Low maintenance!

Hydrangea - Cherry Bomb - Sale Price: $92.75 Hydrangea Cherry Bomb, Hydrangea macrophylla 'Cherry Bomb', is a red lace cap variety of hydrangea. Cherry Bomb Hydrangea is an attractive and very free-flowering shrub with blooms lasting from midsummer to fall. It is a compact shrub with wrinkled, dense green foliage. The foliage provides outstanding fall colors from burgundy to purples. As a young plant it is best to prune or pinch your plant in order to build a full bodied, well branched plant. Then selectively prune out any dead stems, or old non-flower producing stems. The flower buds form in later summer and then flower the next year in early to mid summer, in other words, the best time to prune is after it blooms, from mid-July to mid-August. |
| Sumac - Staghorn - Sale Price: $64.20 The Staghorn Sumac, Rhus typhina, is the most well-known sumac. Its branches resemble deer antlers. Staghorn sumac reaches 25 feet in height at maturity with an equal spread. It is not as tolerant of poorly drained soils as other sumacs. The large dark crimson - or rarely orange to yellow - pinnate leaves of this sumac have 15-31 narrow, leaflets that can be up to (6) long. The stems and fruits of Staghorn Sumac are densely hairy, as in the velvet stage of a stag's antlers. These colorful, nonpoisonous shrubs or small trees are rhizomatous. The large clumps form bright splashes of color along forest margins, road banks, and fencerows and in old fields over much of the Appalachians. |
| Juniper - Mini Arcade - Sale Price: $92.75 The Mini Arcade Juniper, J. sabina 'Mini Arcade', is a compact selection of 'Arcadia' with excellent, feathery foliage. 'Mini Arcade' is lower and more spreading than 'Arcadia'. It displays a soft green color throughout the seasons and is tolerant of partial shade. 'Mini Arcade' is a moderate grower. The layered branching habit of this plant gives the subtle appearance of soft undulations in the ground beneath it. 'Mini Arcade' would serve nicely in a small Zen garden, with it's ability to suggest a forest of undulating green. This juniper does well in dry soils that are well drained, and it needs to have partial to full sun exposure. |
| Holly - Carissa - Sale Price: $64.25 The Holly 'Carissa', Ilex cornuta 'Carissa', is an outstanding dwarf and a dense grower. The leaves are dark glossy green with one spine at the tip. It is well suited for planting along a foundation, and it is excellent for use as a low hedge or in mass plantings. This 'Carissa' does not produce berries. 'Carissa' grows best in rich, well-drained, slightly acid soil, and does well in full sun or part shade. The plant is very drought tolerant, requiring little, if any, irrigation once established in the landscape. Fertilize once or twice to maintain good leaf color and adequate growth. This plant is often used on commercial landscape jobs where it is planted in mass in traffic islands, or planted in beds. If this plant is used as a hedge, prune the plant so it is wider at the bottom than at the top. This allows for light to get in to the bottom foliage and this will help keep the leaves from thinning. The Carissa prefers a pH of 5.0 to 6.5. Zones 6-9. |
| Spiraea - Anthony Waterer - Sale Price: $28.95 The Spirea 'Anthony Waterer', Spiraea x bumalda 'Anthony Waterer', has flat-topped heads of rosy-pink flowers that cover the top of this dwarf shrub.
