Grow the hardy, fast growing Birch in almost any state. The River Birch (Betula nigra) is the most planted Birch in the United States and the best one for hot climates. It is a tree that has something to offer for every season. Famous for its peeling bark which is beautiful all year. The light tan outer layer peeling back to reveal beautiful salmon and cinnamon colored patches beneath is truly stunning in the winter. The graceful branches and the colorful, textured bark are sure to brighten even the darkest winter day. In the spring your River Birch will awake to grow new light green leaves and female catkins that stand up on the ends of the branches. As the leaves mature in the summer they are a beautiful, shiny, dark green almost diamond shaped leaf. The River Birch will transform again in the fall. The male catkins will emerge dripping from the branches and the leaves will turn a brilliant butter-yellow, sure to light up any landscape. The River Birch is the hardiest of all Birches. The Cimmaron Ash tree, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, 'Cimmzam', is a fast growing ash tree that has beautiful glossy purple-colored leaves for showy foliage color. This deciduous tree is seedless with strong, upright branches that are resistant to storm and snow damage. The Cimmaron can grow 3 ft. or more per year in rich loose soil. Cimmaron Ash trees have a good salt tolerance, but it does not like poor compacted soils. The tree is narrow when young with upright branches. The glossy dark-green foliage turns brick-red to orange-red in the fall. It is a beautiful shade tree for homeowners and landscapers. This ash tree buds out later than other ash tree varieties but it will provide excellent shade in the summer.

The Cedar Fastigiata, Cedrus atlantica 'Fastigiata', is an upright formed evergreen conifer with blue-green needles.  It is a narrow, columnar selection with a mature width of only 10'.  With this interesting and picturesque habit, it works well as a specimen or lawn tree.  In optimum conditions, this pyramidal tree can reach up to 40’ tall and 10' wide.  Placed in a good site, this can tree can grow up to 2 feet a year! This cedar prefers moist, deep soils, but is tolerant of dry, sandy soils and does best in full sun.  Fastigiata is tolerant of pollution and urban conditions so makes a great tree for city parks. It may get considerable needle burn and injury during cold winters or when sited poorly in windy locations.  Severely winter burned trees generally recover well if established. The Arborvitae Woodward, 'Thuja occidentalis 'Woodwardii', is a compact round plant that never needs trimming to maintain its shape! Arborvitae Woodward is a compact, narrow, pyramidal evergreen shrub. It has dense, soft, scale-like, green foliage that occurs as flattened sprays at the ends of short, ascending branches.
