Theves Poplar
Fast Growing and Long Lived Poplar The Theves Poplar is a fast growing deciduous tree. Plant a few to accent the entrance of your home or perhaps post some as sentries along your driveway. They also make a wonderful privacy hedge. Your Theves Poplar can grow more than six feet in the first year! It can reach 75 feet at maturity with a 10 foot spread. It grows in a dramatic manner, with a narrow upright thrust like a spire reaching into the sky. A charming feature of your Theves Poplar is that the oval dark green leaves have a silvery underside. This creates a flashing effect in the breeze that will draw your eye from wherever you’re standing in your yard. The bark of your Theves Poplar also has an ornamental quality with its whitish hue that is especially attractive in the winter when the leaves have gone. The autumn color of your Poplar is a muted yellow that although not as spectacular as other fall colors, tends to stand out because of the tall columnar effect of the tree. Your Theves Poplar is a hybrid of the Lombardy Poplar. It’s hardier and has superior longevity to the Lombardy, living up to 80 years in some instances. It resists many more diseases and insects too, and is tolerant of many conditions. If you have allergy sufferers in your home, they’ll especially appreciate its pollen-free nature. For a Poplar with a variety of unique features above and beyond the usual Poplar trees, the Theves is an outstanding choice. * Fast-Growing * Long-lived * Ornamental features * Hardy
