Stokes Aster - Purple Pixie Stokes Aster Purple Pixie, Stokesia 'Purple Pixie' PPAF, is the first ever dwarf Stoke's aster! At less than 1' tall, this little cutie makes neat and tidy mounds that are perfect for the front of the border. In mid-summer, Stokesia 'Purple Pixie' explodes into color with dozens of large violet-blue flowers followed by sporadic rebloom in the fall. 'Purple Pixie' will do best in a full sun area with morning shade and well-drained soil. It should not stay wet while in dormancy. Stoke’s Aster is not particular about soil types but they do need to be kept watered. Heavy, wet, always damp soils will cause the crowns to rot. Soils must be well-drained. Use this plant for summer color in beds, borders, or containers. It produces excellent cut flowers. To increase bloom time, deadhead after the first initial flowering. | Hosta - Yankee Blue - Sale Price: $39.95 The Hosta Yankee Blue, Hosta 'Yankee Blue', is a vigorous, fast growing blue colored hosta that will command attention in any garden or landscape! ‘Yankee Blue’ has elongated wedge-shaped leaves with wavy margins that hold their blue color all summer, then later in the season, the color changes to blue-green. Near white flowers appear on tall scapes in midsummer. ‘Yankee Blue’ is a hosta that forms a full, symmetrical, wide mound that really brightens up a shady area. | Peony - Karl Rosenfield - Sale Price: $71.35 The Peony 'Karl Rosenfield', 'Paeonia', a fall planted bulb, produces magnificent bright red flowers that are stunning in the garden and superb for cut flowers. During late spring-early summer, they fill the garden with fragrance. They also produce superb, long lasting cut flowers. They will bloom 3 to 4 weeks in late spring. The Peony tolerates some drought but thrives in moist, fertile, well-draining soil. If your soil is extremely acid, add some lime at planting time. Plant the roots with the eyes (buds) pointing up and place them 1 below the soil level. Peonies usually take a few years to establish and bloom heavily. For a tidy appearance, remove spent flowers after blooming. After a heavy frost, cut the foliage to the ground and remove from the area.
