Grass - Yaku Jima Maiden - Sale Price: $49.95 The Grass 'Yaku Jima' Maiden, Miscanthus sinensis 'Yaku Jima', is compact with fine textured foliage that turns reddish brown in the fall and remains attractive well into winter. The reddish flowers are showy but not quite as fluffy as most. 'Yaku Jima' is a slightly bigger plant than 'Adagio', but the main difference is that its leaves are even narrower, almost needle fine! Being very hardy and low growing, it tolerates a wide range of soil types; moderately drought tolerant; holds up to wind and snow. Use as a specimen, in a container, as a border, along walkways, or by the water's edge. 'Yaku Jima' prefers full sun and moist, well drained soil; a great grass for small gardens.
