This perfect daylily (a former “Perennial of the Year”) has fragrant, ruffled buttercup-yellow flowers with apricot throats that measure about 2-½ inches across.  These flowers are a beautiful contrast against forest-green, dense, sword like foliage. Plants normally get about a foot high and a foot or two wide, and can take the heat and drought of hot climates; it can even thrive in clay and acid soils. It’s a repeat bloomer, and will keep painting your garden with vivid color from May through July.  ‘Stella de Oro’ prefers full sun and soil with good drainage; if you comply, you attract hummingbirds and butterflies, while discouraging rabbits and insects.   ‘Stella de Oro’ is wonderful for small places, such as containers on patios or the small garden.  Planted together in large numbers, they quickly crowd out weeds and make a carefree and colorful ground cover. Daylilies can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot including: polluted city environments, slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and under Black Walnut trees (not affected by juglone). ‘Stella de Oro’ is a compact, charming daylily that re-blooms over a long period and has adaptability to a wide range of planting zones and conditions.  It will certainly become one of your most popular and favorite daylilies! * Fragrant * Heat and humidity tolerant * Early bloomer
