Peony Monsieur Jules Elie, Paeonia lactiflora 'Monsieur Jules Elie', is a favorite for late spring display and is prized for its very large, fragrant, double light rose-pink flowers that displays a silvery sheen. The plant forms an upright bush of dark green leaves, remaining attractive all season. Peony Monsieur Jules Elie seldom needs to be divided or moved, but if it is needed, it should be done in the fall. Trim off old stems to the ground in late fall, to help prevent disease problems. It will flower best in a sunny location and in very well-composted soil. Peony Monsieur Jules Elie has foliage that emerges with a tinge of purple and matures to deep green. Peonies are herbaceous perennials arising from thickened tuberous roots that are hidden underground most of the year.

The Dianthus ‘Bath’s Pink’, Dianthus gratianopolitanus, is a beautiful soft, light pink flower that is fringed and fragrant!   ‘Bath’s Pink’ was the 1999 Theodore Kein Plant Award Winner, and one can see why! With its grassy blue-gray foliage and profuse blooming time, ‘Bath’s Pink’ is one not to miss.  This bright and charming plant has a spread of 6-8” and a height of 6”. Dianthus will bloom from midsummer to early fall.  In order for a longer bloom time, deadhead the blooms continuously throughout the summer. Dianthus needs a sunny site with well-drained soil, but will tolerate some shade in the afternoon and humidity.  It is best to avoid planting in areas with poor drainage where crowns will remain wet in winter. The Grass 'Porcupine', Miscanthus sinensis 'Strictus', has green leaves with cream colored horizontal bands. These leaves make this ornamental grass stand out anywhere! Silvery white plumes rise 4 feet above the foliage in fall. The 'Porcupine' tolerates a wide range of soil types and is moderately drought tolerant. It will hold up to wind and snow. The Ceratostigma ‘Plumbago Leadwort’, Ceratostigma plumbaginoides, is a beautiful, fast growing ground cover with dark oval green foliage, turning to dark blue in late summer and early fall.
