Peony - Monsieur Jules Elie
Peony Monsieur Jules Elie, Paeonia lactiflora 'Monsieur Jules Elie', is a favorite for late spring display and is prized for its very large, fragrant, double light rose-pink flowers that displays a silvery sheen. The plant forms an upright bush of dark green leaves, remaining attractive all season. Peony Monsieur Jules Elie seldom needs to be divided or moved, but if it is needed, it should be done in the fall. Trim off old stems to the ground in late fall, to help prevent disease problems. It will flower best in a sunny location and in very well-composted soil. Peony Monsieur Jules Elie has foliage that emerges with a tinge of purple and matures to deep green. Peonies are herbaceous perennials arising from thickened tuberous roots that are hidden underground most of the year.
