Barberry - Red Carpet The Barberry Red Carpet, Berberis t. 'Red Carpet', is a deciduous shrub reaching up to 24 tall and about 30 wide. Branches are slender, spiny, and small. Its leaves are roundly oval in a deep red to purple color. Small, yellow flowers bloom beneath leaves, from April to May, and are not showy. Bright red berries can be found along stems from late fall through winter. Plant in any soil in a sunny or partially shaded position, but preferably sunny for best fruit and autumn color.
