Clematis - Warsaw Nike - Sale Price: $42.75 Clematis Warsaw Nike, Clematis 'Warsaw Nike', produces mysteriously dark violet-red 5 flowers that have a velvety texture with contrasting golden stamens. The ruffled petals overlap each other and have curled edges. 'Warsaw Nike' is more tolerant of shady sites and poor soils than most clematis.  Received the 1990 Word of Recommendation by the judging committee of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society, as well as the Silver Medal at 'Planetarium'. Clematis 'Warsaw Nike' needs a supporting structure to grow properly and it is easy to grow with a rich, porous, alkaline soil that has plenty of room for the roots to spread. Prune lightly above the new leaf buds in early spring and remove any dead or weak stems. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, but will thrive and bloom in shade.  Apply generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. This clematis is more shade tolerant than many others, making it a perfect choice for north-facing and dappled-sun gardens. Scabiosa - Butterfly Blue - Sale Price: $49.95 The Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue’, Scabiosa columbaria, also known as the Pincushion Flower, has wonderful 2 lavender-blue flowers that bloom from June to October. ‘Butterfly Blue’ is a reminiscent of a pincushion full of pins. With its gray-green foliage, it has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12-18. It is also disease resistant. Scabiosa ‘Butterfly Blue’ was name Perennial Plant of the Year in 2000, and one can see why. It is best to plant Scabiosa in full sun, with well-drained soil and should be watered regularly throughout the warmer months to increase its overall performance. Deadheading after the first bloom will encourage repeat bloom time. ‘Butterfly Blue’ is great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds and does excellent in rock gardens. Coral Bells - Palace Purple - Sale Price: $42.75 The Heuchera ‘Palace Purple’, Heuchera micrantha, also known as Alumroot or Coral Bell, is one of the most popular Coral Bells on the market! Being named Perennial of the Year in 1991, one can see why. With its unique deep purple foliage, fading to bronzy green in hot summers, and its dark red stems, it is a little different than the rest. In the springtime, small pinkish and white flowers appear that last into the summer, however, Coral Bells are not known for their flowers, but their foliage. ‘Palace Purple’ has a plant spread of 10-15” and a height of 12-18”.  It is best to grow it in medium wet, well-drained soils, in full shade. (It can tolerate some morning sun.) ‘Palace Purple’ looks especially good around the edge of borders, near variegated plants, woodland edges, rock gardens, perennial borders, or in mass to form an attractive ground cover. Cold and drought tolerant and withstanding heat and humidity, nothing seems to phase this plant.  ‘Palace Purple’ needs about one inch of water per week; divide clumps in fall.
