Grass - Cabaret Maiden - Sale Price: $28.95 The Grass 'Cabaret' Maiden, Miscanthus sinensis var. conden satus 'Cabaret', is one of the most outstanding new Miscanthus selections! This plant tends to be a bit floppy and graceless in flower, but the foliage effect is grand! This outstanding grass has wide, ribbon-like foliage with a creamy white center and dark green margins. The late season plumes emerge a wonderful coral pink to purple before changing to tan. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other garden plants with finer foliage. This ornamental grass will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best cleaned up in early spring, before it resumes active growth for the season. Fern - Christmas - Sale Price: $42.75 The Christmas Fern, 'Polystichum acrostichoides', occurs in both dry and moist wooded slopes, moist banks and ravines. It typically grows in a fountain-like clump to 2' tall and features leathery, lance-shaped, evergreen (green at Christmas time as the common name suggests) fronds. The stocking shape of the pinnae also suggests Christmas! Crosiers (young fiddleheads) in spring are silvery and scaled.  Sori appear on the undersides of the pinnae only at the ends (last 1/3) of the fronds.   Christmas ferns are asymmetrical with a fine texture and have a moderately dense crown. The evergreen fronds provide good winter interest for the landscape. This fern does not spread but the clumps increase in size over time.  These plants serve as wonderful hosts for butterfly larvae and are great for erosion control. For best results, plant this fern in a garden in masses, or add to shade beds for year round color and contrasts with other perennials.
