Heather - Salsa
Heather - Salsa Heather - Salsa, Calluna vulgaris 'Salsa', is distinguishable by its compact habit, dark green foliage, and dark red double flowers that remain in bud throughout their season. The beautiful, dark green foliage compliments the double blood red flowers. Salsa is a budbloomer which means that it is a form of Calluna in which the flowers never develop beyond the bud stage, but as a result, keep their color for a long period. It requires full sun and acid loving fertile well drained soil that is humus rich. Attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, Salsa has bright fragrant flowers that look outstanding in borders, as groundcovers, in containers, or in rock gardens. The red blooms against the dark green foliage make a great contrast!
