Juniper - Blueberry Delight
The Blueberry Delight Juniper, J. comminis depressa 'AmiDak', is a North Dakota State University introduction. 'AmiDak' is a dense, low spreading juniper that annually produces heavy crops of blueberry-like cones. The plant gets its name from the heavy crops of these berry-like cones, which resemble blueberries. The fruit is often used as a flavoring in sauerkraut, stuffings, vegetable pates, and is an essential ingredient of gin. Blueberry Delight Juniper has a foliage that is a rich, dark green with contrasting silvery-blue hues on the upper leaf surface. Its summer color is retained well in winter. Succeeds in most soils so long as they are well drained, preferring a neutral or slightly alkaline soil. It also does well in chalky or heavy clay soils.
