Shasta Daisy Aglaya, Leucanthemum 'Aglaya', will flutter softly in the gentle breeze and will become a favorite in your perennial garden. Leucanthemum 'Aglaya' has crested yellow centers on 3 diameter blooms that appear in late spring, and they last for several months with faithful deadheading. A 1993 Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit winner, 'Aglaya' has long sturdy stems that are perfect for cut floral arrangements. Shastas mix so effortlessly with other perennials that no garden should be without them! Leucanthemums require full sun and well-drained soil to be at their best. Winter drainage is especially important; planting in raised beds will help to provide these conditions. Shastas make good perennials, though partial shade is recommended in the warmest zones. The Bleeding Heart Specatabilis ‘Alba’, 'Dicentra specatabilis ‘Alba’, is a fast-growing perennial with white, heart-shaped flowers. ‘Alba’ has two distinguishing features that make it a little different from the rest. One is the wonderful white flowers that it produces, and two, the fern-like foliage is lime green rather than green. A clump forming plant, it has a plant height of 2-3’ and a width of 20”. This Bleeding Heart should be planted in full sun but will tolerate morning shade.  It is heat tolerant and needs moist soil.  Do not let it dry out. Specatabilis ‘Alba’ will bloom from May to September and is a major attractor to butterflies.  ‘Alba’ makes excellent cut flowers. The foliage does go dormant, so it is best to plant this bleeding heart among later developing perennials such as hostas and ferns, which will fill in as the bleeding heart foliage begins to die back. The Yarrow Sunny Seduction, Achillea 'Sunny Seduction' PPAF, is part of the Seduction series. This line is known for sturdy, compact growth, long bloom periods, and interesting flowers. 'Sunny Seduction' PPAF produces large sunny yellow flower heads that stand out in your garden. It is a prolific bloomer from June-August. The Achillea are a great choice for mass planting and are drought tolerant.  Yarrow can tolerate poor soil conditions, but does best in lean, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil. They can be adaptable to almost any soil with adequate drainage. Remove faded flowers to encourage more growth and divide every 3-4 years.
