Blazing Star - Kobold Gayfeather - Sale Price: $49.95 The Liatris ‘Kobold Gayfeather’, Liatris spicata, has tall, lilac-rose spike-shaped flowers with a fluffy appearance and dark green foliage. These unique flowers open from the top down and bloom from June to September.  It is a major butterfly and bee attractor. Liatris ‘Kobold’ has a plant height of 2’ and a spread of 12-18” and should be planted in full sun in a well-drained area.  It does prefer a bit more moisture than most Liatris, but do not over water. Liatris ‘Kobold’ looks great as a perennial background, with grasses or white blooming flowers such as Physostegia ‘Miss Manners’. Hosta - August Moon - Sale Price: $99.95 The Hosta ‘August Moon’, Hosta sieboldiana, has wide, heart-shaped gold colored foliage with slightly rippled margins, making it very striking! The white to pale lavender flowers bloom from July to August.  Hostas are not known only for their flowers, but mostly for their foliage.   With a plant height of 24” and a spread of 24-36”, ‘August Moon’ provides bright color in shade with its wonderful foliage. Hosta ‘August Moon’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area.  It grows best in highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. Clematis - Terniflora - Sale Price: $42.75 Clematis Terniflora, Clematis 'Terniflora', produces masses of small 1 creamy white flowers that completely cover this plant. Its sweet scent is an added bonus and is sure to get the attention of anyone who walks by! ‘Terniflora’ is very impressive with its deep green leathery leaves and profuse blooming.  Flowers give way to attractive, plume-like seed heads. Clematis 'Terniflora' needs a supporting structure to grow properly and it is easy to grow with a rich, porous, alkaline soil that has plenty of room for the roots to spread.  It can be kept smaller with pruning. Because of its extremely rampant growth habit this clematis may need hard pruning in fall or early spring. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, but will thrive and bloom in shade. Coreopsis - Moonbeam - Sale Price: $49.95 The Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam’, Coreopsis verticillata, is the most popular perennial in its family. ‘Moonbeam’ was named Perennial of the Year in 1995 and one can see why. With its clusters of light yellow, daisy-like blooms and its green airy fernlike foliage, ‘Moonbeam’ Coreopsis blooms from June through October and is mildew resistant. ‘Moonbeam’ stands at 24” and has a plant spread of 18-24”. ‘Moonbeam’ should be planted in full sun. It is drought-tolerant and tough but does need well-drained soil. It should be cut backing early and late summer to extend the bloom period. Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam’ looks great with Coreopsis ‘Sweet Dreams’, and with any type of grass, in borders or mass plantings in sunny gardens. No garden should be without it.
